Iconic Race Start  Join us on Boxing Day for the start of the world famous Sydney to Hobart yacht race. This is one of the great summer events in Sydney, when Australians take to the harbour in force to witness the spectacle and to cheer on the yachts.

Event Outline

Where - Our yacht will greet you on a walk-on walk-off marina in a beautiful setting at Mosman Bay Marina or nearby at Sydney Amateur Sailing Club.

Beginning - The day begins with a short safety briefing. We explain the basic parts of the yacht as well as the use of winches, halyards and sheets. 

Middle - next, we head out towards the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House near the start line for the race.  As the start time approaches the tension builds and the yachts jostle for a starting position. This is a great opportunity to get photos and videos of some of the world's most impressive race yachts. When the gun goes at 1 o'clock the yachts race down the harbour to a marker buoy off Sydney Heads.

End -Here the fleet turns south for the start of a 628-mile yacht racing adventure.  We usually follow the fleet down the harbour and out through the heads.  Then it's back to the Mosman Bay for a few light refreshments on the yacht or nearby at Mosman Rowers in the waterside bar.

What to Bring

Personal Gear - Hat, sunscreen, shoes, wind/rain jacket and a curious mind.

Food and Drink – this is a non-catered cruise.  Please bring you own lunch, snacks and drinks.  The yacht has a fridge and we can supply a cooler if required.
