If you are new to sailing, then the Start Crewing short course is the first step in your sailing journey! This course is an introduction to the basics of crewing and sailing on a keelboat. Choose a combination of four (4) lessons to complete the entire skill level. The flexibility of when you do the lessons is yours (subject to minimum numbers required).

The Level 3 course develops both your theory and practical skills to confidently take control on the helm. Choose a combination of four (4) lessons to complete the entire skill level. Start Skippering (L4) Learn to Skipper and Seamanship - You will now advance your sailing skills and safety knowledge to enable you to skipper unsupervised in sheltered waters.

Spinnaker (L5) - Learn to Use Spinnakers Introduces you to the fun and challenge of using an asymmetrical and/or a symmetrical spinnaker. You will learn the crewing roles, the procedures for ‘hoisting’ and ‘dropping’ spinnakers, how to ‘gybe’ with a spinnaker, and trimming techniques.

Iconic Race Start . . Join us on Boxing Day for the start of the world famous Sydney to Hobart yacht race. This is one of the great summer events in Sydney, when Australians take to the harbour in force to witness the spectacle and to cheer on the yachts.

Iconic NYE Event Join us on our either Beneteau 40.7 or Hunter 38 located in Mosman Bay and anchoring close by for a view of the Harbour Bridge for an evening of celebrations.

The ICC Direct Assessment can be secured through ab RYA Training Centre. It is a a test of competence that provides the student with an internationally recognised qualification. The ICC can be obtained for Sailing/Yachting and Power (<10m). Check Prices and Options for more detail.

NSW Boat Licence Practical (Logbook Only) This 4hr practical only ‘on-water’ assessment provides assessment you need to get your NSW Boat Licence. NSW Logbook requires a variety of activities to be completed – most three times each. Bookings are open to adults and kids aged 12 and upwards. Min 2 persons per course.

The objective of the theory course is part of the Advanced Training course to qualify members for Offshore or Advanced Boat Handling. Each Member will need to attend both Theory and Practical sessions to gain knowledge and practical experience to a minimum standard to complete a short coastal passage by day.

The objective of the Advanced Practical course is to qualify FBC Members to take powerboat into Open Water (restricted area) as part of the Membership Services. Each Member will need to attend both Theory and practical sessions to gain knowledge and practical experience to a minimum standard to complete a short coastal passage by day.

This Australian Sailing Coure course is tailored for all sailors, instructors and coaches wanting to gain quaifications at sailing clubs, AMSA Coxswain Grade 3 and/or a for completion of NSW Recreational Boat Licence Logbook practical. The course is delivered by a 4 hr Theory Course (virtual) and a one-day Practical session (on-water).

This course provides the skills needed to support water-based activities at clubs, schools and outdoor recreation centres. You'll learn about racecourse design, practise on-water rescue of dinghies and gain an awareness of techniques to support kite surfers and kayaks.

Freedom Boat Club - New Member Orientation [Private Course]

This course provides advanced and intensive training in the practical skills, technical, navigational theoretical knowledge for small boat operators (<less than 10m). Day 1 content delivered as AS Powerboat Handling (certifate issued) and Day 2 - as per the RYA Powerboat Level 2 syllabus. We train on a 6.8m rigid inflatable rescue craft.
